Hi, My name is Cruz Sanft. I'm 8 years old and I want to share My St. Jude Story with you.
I learned about St. Jude and their mission to help kids, just like me, in February 2019 from the "This Shirt Saves Lives" campaign partnership with Supercross...
Initially I asked my Mom and Dad about St. Jude because I saw those that I admired most wearing the shirt. I wanted to know what it was and why my favorite riders were all wearing it. At that time I had no idea the real purpose behind the campaign...until my mom and sister introduced me to St. Jude and explained what they did for kids and families. When my mom asked me if I wanted to help St. Jude, without any hesitation I said "Yes!". Then she asked me why... "I want to help kids like me, so they can play with their friends again and go outside". As simple as that sounds, it means a lot when you're my age, and I want to do whatever I can to help, no matter how small.
Since February 2019 I've committed to donating all of my allowance earned at home to St. Jude. Sometimes this means skipping the arcade or not buying a new video game, but that doesn't bother me a bit because I know, in my heart, I'm doing what I CAN DO to help.
If you don't already know much about St. Jude, I encourage you to spend some time learning about their mission to save the lives of kids like me. I promise you won't be disappointed in what you find.
Just IMAGINE what can be done with $1,000!!!:
Or maybe it provides 2 days of Oxygen... or 1 uniquely-sized wheelchair... or the lifesaving airfare needed to get a Mom and kid to St. Jude for treatment.
The possibilities are endless, but ONE THING THAT'S DEFINITE is we need to come together and help by whatever means we have. Even if it means you give up the few dollars earned from taking out the trash and shoveling dog poo for something SO much more important than I can even understand at 8 years old.
Thanks to donors like you and I, no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.
